    Fried rice is incredibly easy to make and can be tweaked a thousand different ways to clean out your fridge or assuage the picky eater in your life. If your resolution is to get cooking more in 2019, this is a great place to start.

    + Ingredients & Shopping List:
    4.5 cups cooked and chilled white rice
    Vegetable oil
    2 eggs, beaten
    Shrimp (or protein of your choice)
    1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms, chopped
    1/2 cup frozen peas
    1 cup chopped ham
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    3 Tbsp oyster sauce
    3 Tbsp soy sauce
    Scallions, thinly sliced
    Sesame seeds
    1 Tbsp butter

    + Special Equipment:
    Wide nonstick pan

      I love your videos but this is NOT how you make fried rice... sautéing every separately? Butter? Cooking the egg first? Olive oil?

                  A miss compared to your other videos. Higher heat and less rice for the size of your pan would make this come out better. You also really don't need the butter at the end given that you're already using a fatty meat in ham. Use sesame if you really want a finishing oil.

                      You really should have kept the wok. As someone who uses a wok with a normal American stove top and has made fried rice countless times with this setup, the heat only touching the bottom is a non issue as long as you don't crowd the pan. Plus the wok has higher walls which means the ingredients actually stay inside the wok when you toss them and doesn't fly out the sides.

                                          just put in whatever you like. You can even make it with just rice and egg and some seasoning. He is overcomplicating things a bit to make the dish richer, but its not needed at all.

                                                                              Oh what the, I didn't even know people cooked the ingredients separately. I thought it was just put everything in at different times but never take anything out until it's done.

                                                                                That's what I do. Put everything in the wok at different times and let them all cook together. I also add sesame oil and soy sauce after putting the rice in to add a lot of flavor.
