@The Jaxson Video Blog Lactic acid is the result of an incomplete breakdown of glucose, which happens in our muscle cells when we do anaerobic exercise, such as sprinting, because they don't get ample oxygen to fully break down glucose, but, they need a quick burst of energy to keep working. However, with aerobic exercise, such as pilates, there is little to no lactic acid produced because our muscle cells get ample oxygen to break down glucose.

Thank You for your medical posts. They are always very well written and scientifically entertaining. Fitzharris _The Butchering Art_ was a very enjoyable read. My son is in his second year of med school and recommended your videos to me. "Take care of yourself and be well" has helped me personally. Thank You Doctor!

As a Type 2 diabetic, (taking both Metformin and insulin 2x/day), I found this absolutely fascinating. Although I will occasionally take aspirin for a fever or Ibuprophin for pain, I basically don't take many OTC drugs and never any kind of decongestants. Those give me a horrible deep rasping cough that is non-productive and can take 4-6 weeks to resolve. I didn't know about the relationship of liver disease to acidosis however, but it explains explains a lot since I have (unknowingly!) been positive for Hepatitis C for decades despite having (supposedly) recovered from a severe case of it in 1975. I need to chew on this video a few more times to squeeze all the info out of it, but I really wanted to thank you for it. Keep 'em coming!

I'm not a vet just something I'm working on because I lost my very dear and otherwise healthy 11 year old goldfish to rapid onset renal disease. Turns out there isn't much research into the causes and mechanism of renal issues in fish so it's something I study in my spare time to try and contribute something that will help others. Your videos are great to have on as background as I work because their interesting and keep my mind on topic.
