What’s your position on “Medicare for All”? Or at least how would you like to see our healthcare system changed?

My dad got heart cancer and the doctors told him he would only live like 4 months. We decided to have him treated and he lived two years. We paid a lot of money and it was totally worth it just to have more time with my father. We were able to get him treated in a clinical trial that worked way better than anything else that was out. What does money matter when it comes to a loved ones life?

My point.... if it were socialized healthcare they would have rationed care on him because he had almost no chance to survive for that long. If we had socialized healthcare, would that clinical trial be available? This life extending treatment might not have been available if the government forced the company to earn very little for being on the cutting edge. Why not go into some other field where there is incentive for being successful? Why go into a risky field if there is almost no incentive?

Sorry everyone, Crowder is correct. Also to those that are "laughing in.." whatever language, go do some research on where nearly every biopharma drug went through R&D. The worlds largest pharma companies that are not headquartered in the U.S. purchase the drugs that were created here. They are also listed on our markets.. not to mention the price of bring a drug to market today at well over $1 billion. Instead of laughing in your language, go research what major contributions your country has brought to the national market at affordable prices and I'll admit there is some logic in your comments.

Have both public and private hospitals available. Have 1 public hospital in every major city being funded by it's own state and federally. People who really doesn't have any money should at least drive for a free consultation. Because it sucks to pay $130 bucks just to get antibiotics everytime your child has a fever due to strep throat. Maybe cut just a few billions from space programs or military. I don't see the need to waste so much money just to have the most powerful military force in the world. Maybe we could use some of its money to help the people out in the great country.

The NHS in U.K. is fantastic. Every political party supports it. We know that the NHS isn’t perfect and we are working very hard to make it better. But everyone gets a great standard of care. No one gets left behind. 5 % of costs are admin. Those drugs that you go on about are bought for a fraction of the cost in the U.K. odd about your doctors do no harm. Americans are the most medicated people in the world. If you could get an mri in 15 minutes, does that not make you think that there must be dozens of unused appointments every month. What the NHS is brilliant at is assessing which people need the treatment the quickest. I had a large seizure. Within 15 minute a first responder arrived at my home on a motorbike. He established that I needed admitting so organised an ambulance. Was taken straight to hospital cat scan performed at 3 am . Lumber puncture at 5 am . On another occasion I went to hospital with a possible broken wrist. I was assessed in 10 minutes but then had to wait while more poorly people arrived and were seen. It is not a first come first seen. It is most needy seen first.Just by the way, the MRI was invented in the U.K. And the Cat scanner and IVF treatment too. Penicillin was discovered in the U.K. viagra was invented in the U.K., the first hip replacement was designed and used in the U.K., I will continue tomorrow because tons of drugs and equipment were made in the uk. You just choose to ignore them. I have also researched where dual nationals choose to have treatment. People with uk or USA passports choose to be treated in the uk. Please explain why?

It's a multifaceted issue. #1 insurance is just gambling - you gamble that you may really need it and the company gambles that you won't.
#2 Universities suck and they require a physician/practicioner to take two or three years worth of useless courses that cost way more than their time/money investment in that field.
#3 We Americans eat crap food. A lot.
#4 Advanced technology and fast service is demanded and expected - that's not free. It's not cheap.
#5 The government sees a problem and that's a vote topic. It's also a good opportunity to control $ and controlling $ can make you rich if you play it right so yeah they're on it like a grubworm on a cabbage root.
#6 We're all scared that we or a member of our family or someone we love may be faced with something that they just can't pay for. It's scary and we can panic and leap at new ideas before we think them through.

Finally - Yes we can make it better, but it's going to take a lot of tweaking to a lot of different angles which all work together to create the problem we're facing. I'm not happy either, but meet me down at the DMV to discuss it further. We'll have plenty of time waiting in line.

You're just so... insular. Have you ever even been outside of the US? I used to defend you, but now you've become a parody of yourself. The rest of the developed world sees the US health system as an anti-individual, anti-human, anti-liberty, disaster. You're defending a neolithic system that works against your own interests. You seem to be unable to even fathom how much better people have it in other developed nations. This myopic, pathetic, pandering to elite interests is the opposite of what you purported to be. Rethink your life.

To be fair, insurance companies create a demand for themselves by jacking prices up for un insured people, so we wouldn't need insurance for fat people if we didnt have insurance companies creating that need, so they either need to cut the price fixing bullshit off or insure anyone who can afford it despite their lifestyle. Otherwise we can just shut down the insurance companies and let the market drop the price of medical care naturally allowing all the fat, but ultimately productive members of society afford their healthcare.

But couldn't you have both a public health sector for the lower income; paid with increased taxes. Then for those who need and have a decent wage can pay for the private health sector that has all the benefits that chowder just said. I understand that higher taxes isn't good but it is going to a fundamental human right for people in the countries that support it.
I believe there is a reasonable compromise out there.

We have the best medical care in the world in the US. It just isn't cheap. Partly because we tend to be on the cutting edge. But also because of providers gouging insurance companies (going back over 50 years), and bureaucratic overhead. HMOs and government subsidization kill competition.

I agree... We also have a sue happy culture. Some law suits are justified but some are crazy. Doctors and hospitals have to have insurance to guard against law suits. You increase costs for doctors and hospitals through regulation and law suits it all comes back on us.

It's a minimal 3 hour waiting time for everything now here in Canada and even have signs informing the public in hospitals. I had arthroscopic knee surgery and in the pre-op I waited around 1 and a half hours before I saw the first guy who asked me questions. Then it was another 2 hours before I saw a 2nd person who then asks me the same questions. But the funny part was listening to some administration person talk for the whole 3 hours to over 30 people about her vacation at her house in Florida. No wonder we have an issue with healthcare. Overpaid administrators costing the system that are related to someone high or a girlfriend.

Those who claim that college, housing and healthcare are human rights, might as well be claiming food as a human right. Oh wait, food is probably the next thing the leftists will declare a human right!

Countries with universal health care systems tend to have poor medical outcomes. With patients waiting on gurneys in the hospital hallways (aren't corridors of hospital gurneys fun? ), people having to wait months just to see a doctor for an initial appointment, government beaurocrats in the corridors of the legislature deciding who gets treatment and who doesn't (basically giving the govt even more power over life and death ), crappy care once a patient does get in, etc. Seriously, whatever governments touch turns to shit! And that's not to mention the astronomical taxes that universal health care would require for funding.
Most countries where the government has installed single payer health systems have income and other tax rates of about 60% for the average earner.

Here's my experience with medicare, I receive social security as a disabled veteran when I went to a clinic for my medication they said I didn't qualify for medicare assistance with medication because I get $900 a month from social security, which disqualifies me because medicare says I have to high of an income. The specific medicine I need costs around $850 a month, so that would leave me with $50 and medicare says I still don't qualify.... Medicare only works for the indigent (those who have NO income not even the measly $900 a month from social security) .

That was a bogus faked video with a bogus injury made to fool Americans.. Besides who needs to find the cure to cancer? All those kids at Duke are from low income homes anyway, who cares if they die!? I saw a vlogger in Japan saying that if you get hurt on a weekend you just gotta bleed out cause they don't have anything like an ER there. That seems like a good model right?

But I wanted to watch the America is Superior Change My Mind. So I searched Louder with Crowder Change My Mind. Suddenly, I once again got all non-Crowder videos! I have started just saving some of the video links on my phone in a memo app. Then when I want to share them I can just copy and paste the link.

Have watched and listened to Crowder a lot, especially first getting into the whole US political analysis sphere of YouTube, and the more I’ve branched out into other opinions across the political spectrum I’ve realised this guy is majorly full of crap, and is all about feelings over facts. If you’re a fan of this dude I definitely recommend a bit of Kyle Kulinski or David pakman, you honestly wont regret it, It’s clear that not enough of conservative YouTube is getting a balance of opinions and this channel has rapidly turned into a toxic eco-chamber of bad ideas and poorly formed arguments.

That sounds great to me. You know that money you work for in the hot desert sun? Well we want more of it cause someone else needs it, give it to us or you are going to jail! You want my money? Come help me at work then maybe you will be entitled to it. Nothing is free, you have to steal it from someone else.

In Ancient Greece, there was a temple run by priests of Aesculapius, who worked as "healers" (really they just mumbled some magic spells and hoped the patient got better, sound familiar?), where no-one had ever died? I mean, that sounds pretty incredible. Until you find out that they took anyone who they didn't think would survive, and tossed them into the forest out back to die. Technically speaking, no-one had died in the temple. Clever, right?

Isn't interesting how people who just can't afford healthcare are left out of the equation? It sounds a tad like the little story about that Greek temple, doesn't it? Boosting your figures through technicalities? It's a bit like padding your stats in games, except people are actually dying.
