Unfortunately, these videos (and there are several like this one) don't get it (though this was better than most, IMO). Almost all they show are his BIG/TD plays. Those are not what was the joy of watching Barry Sanders. The joy was watching him dart and stop and juke and spin and change direction on a dime just to get 2 yards. THAT is what was the art of Barry Sanders. He is still the only player I would ever watch a game just to see him play - no matter who was playing or what was on the line.

The Lions should at least won one with Barry Sanders. I mean he averaged over 5 yards per carry.

Imagine having nearly 1900 yards in offense and only 8 touchdowns.

Barry runs like a beast and everything... but nobody could ever recreate the heart that Walter Payton possessed. i mean walter payton literally did not quit until the whistle was blown. With Barry Sanders, if they caught him, he was going down. with Walter, you had to catch him, and then worry about taking him down.

Love ya Emmitt but damn, never seen a back run like this. Unbelievable. Esp the way he downshifts to throw off the DB's timing.

I've watched NFL football hardcore for 24 years, and Barry Sanders is hands down the greatest running back in my lifetime.

I have been a Dallas Cowboys supporter this whole time and loved Emmitt, but Barry was so much better than Emmitt. It's no slight to Emmitt, it's just how great Barry was

Could you imagine how unfair it would have been if Barry had the OL in Detroit that Emmitt had in Dallas? Dude would have ran for 3K a season!!! The Human Cheat Code with CERTAINTY! Only RB I have heard of that would lead the NFL in rushing and most yards lost because his OL was average at best. And yet, never once did Barry trash them or point fingers. To the contrary, Barry would buy his big uglies Rolex watches and steak dinners. Dude was in his own stratosphere! G.O.A.T.

There's always a debate who is best. I think all of the top guys were great and we wont see those numbers for a long time if ever again. The run game is a lost art in today's football. And the defenses these guys faced were full of HOF talent and they still put up monster numbers.

I love some Jim Brown but Barry was on a different level,Brown was a power punch you in the face type of runner. Sanders was a Human Joystick you will never see a back with this type of elusiveness add the fact he barely had an offensive line and his rushing yardage would be astronomically higher.

Think about this Barry is the only player other than Brown to average over 5 yards per carry in his career. Led the league in rushing 4 times and would of led it every year if not for Wayne Fonts and that sorry organization. He also has the most negative yards all time had he had an offensive line he would of rushed for 30,000 yards.

Meaning he benefited playing at least 9 games a season in domes. 8 in Detroit and 1 in Minnesota. 9 games in perfect running conditions . No rain or mudd. That's why Walther Payton is the better running back. Barry Sanders is a top 5 back in history. But not the best.

But he played 3 years more than Barry and, by your own admission, played on good teams for 5 of his 12 years (equal to 41% of his career). Sanders, by contrast, played on good teams 0 of his 10 years (0%). And, despite playing three years less, ended just 1457 short of Payton. Sanders would have easily made that up in one more season, had he opted to play. Sorry, brother, but if I had to pick a single back to instill fear in the hearts of my opponents ... it would still be Barry Sanders.

He ran behind one of the worst offensive lines. The Bears didn't become good til 1984. I'm not making it up.i believe if Walter ran indoors like Barry. He would have ran 19 or 20.000 yards. Barry is a HOF. But stats don't lie.

They never had any other offensive weapons. Everyone knew Sanders would carry the ball 20+ times per game. He was a sitting duck and he still kicked ass. I mean, Walter was great. Barry was simply the GOAT at his position.
