Don't bring race in where it don't belong... Saying NFL is the best option for a Black Man in America lol.... NFL is the best option for ANYONE in America... No race needed

I'm having a hard time with all the praise being heaped on Carter in these comments.
I have a ton of respect for Carter, but his message here -- "What other choice does a black man have that's better" than the NFL? -- is not only idiotic but dangerous.

Less than one-tenth of 1 percent -- 0.09% -- of high school football players are drafted to the NFL -- and only about 20 percent of those drafted have any kind of career. It's almost as bad as saying, "What other choice does a black man have that's better than winning the lottery?" No one in their right mind would say that.

His message flies in the face of decades of public service campaigns -- not to mention teachers, parents, coaches and star athletes -- telling kids that your best chance for success is to stay in school, go to college or a trade school, and work hard.

If, along the way, they find they're pretty good at football or basketball or baseball, get to college on a scholarship and make it in the pros, that's great. But telling kids -- black, white or any other color -- the NFL is your best hope is irresponsible.

@jc Coolidge you don't have to play a decade in the NFL to reap the benefits Mr Carter was talking about. He learned many good lessons about being the gentleman he is from his coaches and from football. I was moved by this and view it as a positive message.

@insomthegreat I mean if thats what you took from it. What I took from it was that he's gained an everlasting family, opportunities to better his family's situation, mentorship through coaches that not only translated to football but to life. This game bettered him and other guys as people and Instilled principles into them. But like I said all you see is something to make a comment about. We know football dangerous but its bigger than just a game and money.

I remember him going into detail about how life as a black in America sucks because of the limited opportunities and racism but smashing his brain for entertainment gave him a chance to rise above that because

So I wouldn't keep pushing this false narrative because its going to keep people from doing the work because they have an excuse. Carter just made this such an awkward show.
