What moment from the 2019 Oscars was your best moment and why?

One: Speak up and join the conversation- we encourage respectful debate.
Two: Respect your community- racism, misogyny, homophobia and hate speech aren’t tolerated.
Three: Don’t go looking for fights.
Four: “Be nice.” – Dalton from Roadhouse

I really liked when spike Lee and Sam L. Jackson hugged. It was such a sweet and nice moment of two dudes giving each other a good "congratulations" type of hug to each other and it really warmed my heart.

Olivia Colman doing her speech bar none, she was in tears, I was in tears and hysterical laughter, she really deserved the win. She was great in that role. If anyone was going to steal from Glenn Close , it was her and I'm over the moon that she did. It was the best moment of the year so far in my book. I had pulled for her, and was greatly rewarded.

I would just like to say that Klee, the person in the middle is a terrible debater and highly disrespectful. She brought bad arguments to the table fueled by politics rather than the actual content itself. Moonlight was written by a black gay man, directed by a black person, starring black people. Clearly, none of them had a problem with creating the film and the characters that inhabited them. If she has a problem with this maybe she should talk to them and should tell Mahershala not to take roles like this. Also, it is one thing to not like Heath Ledger's performance and think it is overrated and it is another thing to say that he won it cause he died and he basically was bad and killed himself. I was looking forward to the second debate but she just took it into a terrible direction where their actual performance didn't matter but the situation surrounding them did. Such a shame

I feel like the 3 Best Supporting Acting Performances of the 21st century in my opinion are (in no particular order): Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, and Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds (but you might also even be able to make the case for Django Unchained). If Emma, Klee, and Coy picked those 3 for their arguments, it would've been almost impossible to decide but would've made for an epic debate!

A runner up that I thought was a great performance was JK Simmons in Whiplash

Heath Ledger's Joker is the best Joker on the big screen. His version of the Joker is still my favorite one.

I got around to this episode very late. It's been a few weeks but reading all of the comments has been interesting. Some want this show to never include politics. Some think she was making an interesting point. Some say that's kind of a cheap card to pull in an argument since the only option for the people you're arguing against is to say you're wrong for finding black people being given awards for being in a marginalized role as a black person wrong. So I'd like to address this first. I get a lot of people's perspectives. Politics being what it is right now some people just want movie fights. When you get into the Oscar kind of movies, a lot of these movies get into politics or race and it's ok to take that perspective. I even understand to an extent where she's coming from but that totally takes away from that performance and the nuance of that character. Mahershala Ali's character is much deeper and complete than what she made him out to be. And I get that's part of her strategy to win the argument you often reduce things to their most simplistic form to just package the argument and remove it from the fight. But it feels a little bit unfair to say during the fight you don't want to pull the race card and then you pull it out, not even really addressing the performance at all. Like if it tied into the performance maybe it's a little different but considering that she said as a black person that performance isn't the best performance because black people get awarded for basically being marginalized isn't a knock on that performance. It's cheap to say that is wasn't the best performance of the century because of all these other things that aren't about the performance. Now her own pick ties into this. She pulls down her own pick by saying there's some of the same problems in her pick but it's ok because she did good and she has a successful career. Again this doesn't even tie into the performance. Also, the reason this annoyed so many people is it felt cheap. Race is a big topic and the way we are treated can change because of skin color and that is just factually wrong. But these people were not using skin color to judge how things were judged. Neither Coy nor Emma were going to knock these performances because the people were black. But they can't counter Klee because she is black and used the race of these performances against them. I understand her perspective on that but it takes the fight to a place that has nothing to with the question and clearly made Emma in particular uncomfortable. She liked the performance past race and shined a light on a performance that maybe had not been seen, and to her was worth seeing, as one of the best performance of the last century and to Emma was the best performance of the century, but got shot down because she's not black. Regardless of your views on Klee's point, for the purposes of the question it was wholly unnecessary and unrelated. As for the Joker thing... I just felt gross watching her. This is a fun show about movies and it can go to deeper places depending on the subject matter and that's why I love it. To just say a man won an Oscar was because he died is insensitive and based on the performance in the movie he won it for totally neglects the work he put into it. I don't know how much his death went into it, but man it was wrong to attack the performance for being the best this century because he died. The weak field argument wasn't great but you get that she was looking at what won an Oscar. It only won because the field was bad. But the question was best performance this century regardless of the field it won against. Her behavior, lack of decency, was hard to watch. I am not a fan and I wish it had been handled better. Coy was clearly incredibly aggravated, because in large part she was spouting off things that weren't even true. She was unbelievably rude to Coy. She was demeaning to a man who is dead. She didn't even talk about the performance. Because at the end of the day if you don't believe that was the best performance in the last century fine, argue why you didn't like the performance. But to say he only won cuz he's dead is just deeply upsetting. I didn't like this movie fights in all...

Her comments about the passing of anyone, is disgusting beyond belief and I doubt if someone said that about her father or son, she would feel the same. To preach about African American rights and call out someone with depression is revolting. No real contribution otherwise and made me unhappy for the first time during movie fights.

So let's get this straight. Klee is arguing that black performances should NOT be recognized bc of the role.
I understand she is fighting that Black actors can play ANY role, which is true. But to disrespect others for their award winning performances is truly despicable. But hey, it's her opinion.

Who should play the likes of Eric, Terry “Toad”, Steve, John, Laurie, Debbie, Carol, and of course Falfa AND pitch to George your plot for the movie. 1 point for best dream cast, 1 point for best movie pitch.
