Why space agencies didn't do the same? I doubt they just neglected this very simple fact. Also it would be better in terms of national security to reduce the supply chain... Anyway chapeau to Space X

Musk builds in the US in order to convince politicians and the public that his ventures are worth subsidizing. It’s PR. Once those subsidies dry up he will move production elsewhere. It’s already happening.

Bill Gates already tried a satellite internet company called Teledesic. It failed.

Since this is the only of your comments with actual questions instead of wild accusations, I'll try to answer them for you.

TL;DR: radiation will do a number on it, but it would last perfectly fine for far more than the 12 hours the video stream lasted

The tires were probably actually deflated compared to what they would need to be on the road. The recommended tire pressure for a Tesla Roadster is around 40psi, which equals about 2.7atm. Meaning a pressure differential at sea level of about 1.7atm. So if you just inflated them to around 24psi before launch they would still maintain their shape well enough to look good when hanging free and not supporting the car's weight (since it was held up from the body by the payload adapter), and still not be in any danger of popping when in space since they would still be well within the pressure differential they are meant to handle.

What will damage the paint the most is not the thermal change, but the additional UV radiation it'll be exposed to without all that nice, protective atmosphere over it. Temperature changes in space tend to be pretty slow, since here on Earth the main method of transferring heat are conduction and convection - basically moving the heat through contact or through the air. In space, neither of those are a factor, so you are only meaningfully transferring heat via thermal radiation. So not too terribly worse than leaving the car out on a sunny day. Unlike on that sunny day though, the car will eventually get much hotter, since it has no air to start taking some of that heat away although the slow roll the car left Earth Orbit with will help with this (similar to the "barbecue roll" used on early manned missions, this lets the 'shade' side radiate out some of the heat it absorbed while on the 'sunny' side).

Now that's not to say the car is in any good condition at this point. The paint, rubber, and all other soft materials exposed to the sun will be broken down by the UV radiation (although a bit slower than on Earth because of the lack of oxygen). The drop in temperature as it gets out to Mars orbit and gets a lot less solar heating will also break things - especially the paint - as the paint and body probably don't have the same thermal expansion ratios. But all of these are pretty slow processes, and I would not be surprised if you could still drive the damn thing if you replaced the battery and the tires after a year and a half in space.

But for the sake of anyone else reading: 1) profit, in a free market, is good - because it is only created when both the buyer and the seller win from the trade. 2) You can only make a profit in a free market if you have the right quality at the right price. 3) In a free market, small companies naturally appear to compete with the big ones. This is different from what we have today, both in Europe and the US, were the big corporations can stay big and keep the little guys out by manipulating government through lobbying etc.

No-one elected Musk, and all of the achievements of the companies he owns are wrongly attributed to him, instead of the combined efforts of thousands of experts. All billionaires are bastards; Musk especially so.

Elon Musk is the man that everyone aspires to be, and I love that. His mere existence proves that not only will smart and ethical business always be successful, but can also be incredibly profitable in a world where big businesses try their damndest to generate as much profit out as possible.

I just wish more businesses took notes from the guy. Currently big businesses are debating whether or not to side with the Chinese government's tyranny just because it nets them slightly more profit. Such a business practice can only lead to distain for such companies and thus their eventual collapse.
However, moral companies are safe from that kind of situation because they don't do anything to generate legitimate outrage, and thus are safe from boycotts and protests.

It could set us back hundreds of years in space navigation if our rockets lose the ability to leave the atmosphere without getting blendered by flying metal.
